Executive Summary
This study book is a book of Exposure, Hope and Challenge.
It is an exposure and an unearthing of a lost truth which needs to be
rediscovered, taught and experienced in today’s Church.
This book is to bring hope, encouragement and fresh vision to the
Church.
The book is for Christians who are:
- Saved - but stuck
- Forgiven - but not in victory.
- Frustrated - but believing.
- Dry, disappointed, discouraged, disillusioned, doubting, damaged, defeated and desperate.
- Hungry for more of God
It is for those who want their Christian life to be effective.
It is for Christians who want to see a genuine God-sent Revival.
It explores how we can obey the commandment of the Lord in 1 Peter
1:15-16, ‘Be ye Holy, as I am Holy.’
It explores through Scripture and proven testimonies, the Missing Link
of the truth of Entire Sanctification or the Clean Heart, where victory
over sin is possible (not sinless perfection, please note).
It is a challenge for honesty and reality in God’s people.
It is not intended to be arrogant or critical, but - it is one of
exposure and challenge; the challenge in our ‘comfortable’ Western
society.
This book is for the Lord’s glory and pleasure, and blessings and
fulfilment for the people of God.

Introduction
If you are hungry and desperate for more
of God and His reality in your life and long to see and
experience real Revival – this book is for you.
The subject – the challenge of Holiness and how it leads to
Revival, was born twenty years ago out of divine
dissatisfaction. My husband David and I had been Christians for
several years, attended an excellent Bible-based charismatic
church and received all round, sound teaching from many sources.
Yet, we saw unreality, hypocrisy and super-spirituality in the
church in general and we wanted reality and what Jesus said
should happen in His church and for our lives.
David asked God to send him old Revival books and books of great
men of God so that he could see if there was something common
between them, and, if that was true, what was it! So started our
‘search’.
This desire for the truth, and the increasing revelation over
this missing ‘key’, never went away, and to this day, it is as
strong as we believe it could ever be. God has led, confirmed
and encouraged us over and over again and is still doing so.
Scriptural Holiness, the ‘missing link’ is a result of
experiencing and walking in what John Wesley termed Entire
Sanctification – the main name I shall use in this study. Since
the doctrine of Entire Sanctification has been almost forgotten,
hidden and not taught or preached it could appear to be
something new. We were careful, therefore, with whom we shared
our discoveries, and even today, God restrains us or prompts us.
We now feel compelled to ‘go public’ and proclaim this jewel.
God clearly has told me to ‘share this with the King’s
household’ (2 Kings 7:9) – with you my fellow believer.
John Wesley said, “Only share this with people who are hungry.”
We are excited, as we have seen the increase of hunger in God’s
people and many well-known international ministers of God
expressing this deep hunger. “Blessed are those who hunger and
thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled” said
Jesus. I pray that this study book will open the way to how to
be filled!
Like Joshua and Caleb we press on in spite of unbelief and doubt
in others. True holiness has never been a popular subject – the
cost is very high.
Satan is a liar and a robber. For half a century and even
longer, he has bred and fostered many misinterpretations,
misconceptions, and half-truths to God’s people. So when we
share this, we always ask people to:
- Pray and be like the Bereans and search the Scriptures – “…whether those things were so” Acts 17:11
- Please be patient and see the whole picture before you accept or reject this,
- Please be open-minded since you may hear things new to your perhaps long held theology, and
- Please read this book at least twice!
This book is an exposure of some lies of Satan that millions of
sincere, lovely Christians have believed – due to wrong
teaching.
I am not a clever scholar but the contents are based on God’s
Word and proven testimonies and my personal observations and
leading by the Lord. The content could well be controversial in
places but I trust the Lord to be the judge. My intent is not to
be arrogant or critical.
From the moment I was saved thirty one years ago, I asked the
Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth, and to never let me go
astray or follow a wrong doctrine. I believe He has led David
and I along this path and we pray that it will lead to the
ancient path – the Highway of Holiness – and that you too will
walk with us along that road. (Isaiah 35:8 and Jeremiah 6:16)
My thanks to the few of our ‘holiness group’, who, over the last
six years, have witnessed to this hidden truth, encouraged and
supported us. Special thanks also to my ‘computer literate’
brothers - Robert Allison, Ron Hemes and especially Nigel Smeeth
- without whom you’d never be reading this, and to David, my
husband, who is one with me in all I share here. Thanks also to
John Campbell who has helped in electronic
distribution/marketing, and to Rev Paul Gardiner who directed us
to The Church of God International Pentecostal who believe in
the Wesleyan doctrine of Entire Sanctification.
May this book bring hope, renewed vision to the people of God
and Revival to today’s church.
God bless you and may the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, lead
us ALL into ALL truth - for His glory!

Executive Summary
Endorsement by
Dr Gause
Patricia Knowles
presents an impassioned cry for a return to the biblical
experience of sanctification and to the living of a life of
separation and purity: in other words, a life of holiness.
Her zeal for this call to holiness shows in every chapter of her
book, HOLINESS, THE KEY TO REVIVAL. I commend her for her
zeal and love for this neglected teaching.
This book is
devotional in nature, but it is more than that. It is a
valuable resource that presents Scripture, doctrine and the
testimony of many believers who have followed this way of life
in the Holy Spirit and can testify to the effectiveness of the
message.
The passion
of the book is to demonstrate that the experience of personal
sanctification is provided in Christ's death and resurrection,
commanded and promised in Scripture and is a very real
experience in the record of Scriptures and believers in Jesus
Christ in all ages of the Christian church.
This book is
a welcome contribution to holiness Pentecostal literature.
It is highly readable. It lends itself easily to teaching.
It provides graphics that are adaptable to overhead projection
and power point presentation.
I am pleased
to commend this book to the attention and use by laity, pastors,
teachers, evangelists and other ministers of the Word.

On Chapter 24
–Scriptures on Sanctification and Holiness
“This is an excellent
listing of texts on the subject of your book; these texts could
be used by a pastor as a study guide for mid-week prayer
services or Sunday evening services in series.”
“You have an excellent
presentation here. I think that it is on the ‘cutting edge’ of a
revival of Holiness among Pentecostals and also in the
Evangelical movement. I am of the opinion that this is going to
be the ‘hot topic’ for preaching, conferences and publications
for time to come”

Reader’s
Comment
“It (the book) is so
clear, it is so true, right, noble, totally crucially relevant,
and other words I cannot find! Wonderful, inspiring, and,
potentially life changing! I am not making this up – you must
write the second book!”

“I was satisfied that the
doctrine of Entire Sanctification in this life, in the sense that it was
the privilege of Christians to live without sin, was a doctrine taught

MAJOR ALLISTAIRE SMITH (Salvation Army)
“A God-sent Revival must

Rev
DUNCAN CAMPBELL
“Holiness has been the
message of saints of God down the centuries,
and was the foundation of the glorious Revivals of
Christianity under the original Quakers, Methodists and the Salvation
Army and wherever it is truly known and experienced, it is the
bringer-in of Revival today .” PAGET
WILKES
“That such widespread
misunderstanding should exist about the word
(sanctification) and its
meaning, is a spiritual disaster .If
there is one New Testament term more
than another which calls for rescue
it is that precious, expressive word, Sanctification. “
SIDLOW BAXTER
“Believers
must be brought into conviction of the shame and evil of the carnal
state. God brings believers into,
what may be called ,a second conviction — conviction of a need of
deliverance from the power of sin.”
